Haus Anubis
Haus Anubis is a house in Spring Hill, Australia, occupied by people who like to get drunk and naked a lot artists, notorious for excellent art and parties. It’s a nexus of creative energy, self-funded by the artists and our supporters. “Haus Anubis” can refer to the physical building, the residents, or the associated creative collective, depending on context.
Currently in residence are Kali Black, owner/operator of Cambion FX, and Will X. Kemp, owner/operator of Pirate Arrrts. As well as lease-holding residents, a collection of regular guests and friends drift in and out, and together we make films, art, and music. We are writers, dancers, musicians, painters, models, singers, comedians, poets, drunkards, madfolk, sculptors, actors, event organisers, teachers, students, lawless heathens, really nice people, radicals, bohemian revolutionaries, and man we are pretty.
Also, there is a cat, Bast (short for Ubastyya Patrolcat, Nemesis Of Sleep, Opposite of Psychopomp, Queen of All Cupboards, The Bengal Terror From Beneath The Bed, Monarch of the Jungle Under The Front Stairs). Two cats, Bast and Casanova (short for Casanova Barry-White Lovemachine Lemonade Satan). Maybe three, Bast, Casanova, and ‘Sabi (short for Wasabi). Four if you count Mr.-Orange-from-somewhere-nearby-who-thinks-he-lives-here. And a fat brushtail possum called Cartman.
